AcuGraph
Ancient wisdom meets cutting-edge technology:
Healthy Spines Chiropractic uses the AcuGraph (Digital Meridian Imaging) system as part of an integrated approach to your healthcare. The practitioner will give you more information about the role of AcuGraph in your care and why your practitioner has chosen to use this equipment.
What is Acugraph?
The AcuGraph Digital Meridian Imaging system is a computerized tool used to analyze and document the energetic, status of the acupuncture meridians. Your healthcare practitioner will use the system in a short examination by touching a moistened probe to acupuncture points on your hands and feet.

Chiropractic
WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Chiropractic care focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine and joints.
Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, including chiropractic adjustments, to help improve joint mobility, reduce discomfort, and support overall function.
A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, specific movement applied to a joint. Depending on your individual needs, Dr. Heather may use an adjustment to address restricted joint movement and help improve mobility and function.
Every patient is different, which is why Dr. Heather takes the time to understand your symptoms, health history, and goals before recommending an appropriate treatment approach.

Massage Therapy
WHAT IS A MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage therapy is a hands-on approach to wellness that uses various techniques to work with the body's soft tissues, including muscles and connective tissues. Through intentional touch and movement, massage can help relieve muscle tension, promote relaxation, improve mobility, and support overall well-being.
Massage therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Every person has different needs, physical demands, health concerns, and wellness goals. Some people seek massage to relax and unwind, while others want to address muscle tightness, recover from physical activity, or manage everyday aches and discomfort.
At Healthy Spines Chiropractic, we recognize that every body is unique. Our massage therapists take the time to understand your needs and tailor each session to your individual goals. Whether you are looking for relaxation, relief from muscle tension, or support for an active lifestyle, we strive to provide a personalized massage experience that helps you feel your best.
WHO SHOULD GET A MASSAGE
Massage therapy can benefit people from many walks of life. Whether you spend hours sitting at a desk, stand throughout the workday, participate in sports, care for your family, or enjoy an active lifestyle, your muscles experience physical demands every day.
Consider how much your body does on a daily basis. Sitting for extended periods, maintaining repetitive postures, working at a computer, lifting heavy objects, exercising, and performing everyday activities can all contribute to muscle tension and physical discomfort.
Over time, these demands may leave you feeling stiff, tight, sore, or simply in need of a break.
That's where massage therapy may help.
At Healthy Spines Chiropractic, we believe massage should be tailored to the individual, not simply performed the same way for every person. Our massage therapists take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your goals, and determine which techniques may be most appropriate for your session.
For one person, that might mean a gentle, relaxing massage. For another, it could involve focused work on areas of muscle tension. Some people may benefit from a combination of techniques during the same appointment.
Your body, your needs, your massage.
Our goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and cared for throughout your experience.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A MASSAGE
Massage therapy is often associated with relaxation, but its potential benefits extend beyond simply taking time to unwind. When appropriately selected for your needs, massage may help support physical comfort, relaxation, and general well-being.
Potential benefits include:
Muscle relaxation: May help reduce muscle tightness and tension.
Stress relief: Can promote relaxation and help ease feelings of stress.
Improved flexibility and mobility: May help you move more comfortably when muscle tightness is limiting your movement.
Temporary relief from certain types of pain: May help ease some muscle-related aches and discomfort.
Circulation: Massage techniques can influence local blood flow, although the effects vary by technique and individual.
Headache relief: May help some people manage tension-related headaches.
Sleep and relaxation: Relaxation following massage may help support better sleep for some individuals.
Recovery and physical wellness: May help active individuals manage muscle soreness and tension associated with exercise.
Massage therapy may also be incorporated into a broader wellness plan alongside appropriate exercise, stretching, chiropractic care, or other recommended treatments.
Massage is not a cure for every condition, and results vary from person to person. It is important to discuss persistent symptoms, underlying health conditions, and any concerns with your healthcare provider.

TYPES OF MASSAGES
A Personalized Approach to Every Session
At Healthy Spines Chiropractic, we understand that no two people experience muscle tension or physical discomfort in exactly the same way. That's why we focus on your individual needs rather than placing everyone into a single category of massage.
You may benefit from different techniques in different areas of your body. For example, one area may respond well to gentle, relaxing pressure, while another may need more focused attention. Your comfort level, health history, goals, and response to treatment all help guide the session.
Rather than assuming that everyone needs the same type of massage, our therapists can select and combine appropriate techniques to create a session tailored to you.
Depending on your needs, available services, and clinical suitability, massage techniques may include:
Swedish Massage: Uses flowing strokes and varying pressure to promote relaxation and ease general muscle tension.
Deep Tissue Massage: Uses slower, more focused pressure to address deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue when appropriate.
Sports Massage: Focuses on the physical demands associated with exercise, athletic performance, and recovery.
Trigger Point Therapy: Applies targeted pressure to areas of muscle tenderness and tension.
Myofascial Release: Uses sustained, gentle pressure and stretching techniques to address restrictions in the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles.
Cupping Therapy: Uses suction cups to create a pulling sensation on the skin and underlying tissues. Suitability and potential side effects should be discussed beforehand.
Hot Stone Massage: Uses heated stones as part of a massage session to promote relaxation and warmth.
Shiatsu-Inspired Techniques: Use pressure applied to specific areas of the body, depending on the practitioner's training.
Aromatherapy Massage: Incorporates selected essential oils into a massage experience when appropriate and tolerated.
Sugar Scrubs: Exfoliating treatments that may be available as an additional service.
Lymphatic Massage: Uses specialized, gentle techniques intended to support lymphatic fluid movement when appropriate.
Not every technique is suitable for every person. Your therapist will discuss your needs, preferences, and relevant health considerations before determining which approaches are appropriate for your session.
The goal is not to choose the most intense massage. It's to choose the right approach for you.
What to expect on your first visit
Your First Massage at Healthy Spines Chiropractic
If this is your first massage with us, we generally recommend scheduling a 60-minute appointment when appropriate for your needs. This allows time to review your health history, discuss your concerns, establish your goals, and provide a more individualized session.
A longer appointment may also give your therapist more time to understand which techniques and pressure levels work best for you.
We offer a special introductory rate for eligible first-time massage appointments, so ask our team about current offers when scheduling.
1. Initial Paperwork
Before your first session, you will be asked to complete new-patient paperwork. This information helps us understand your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals.
Please include relevant medical conditions, recent injuries or surgeries, medications, allergies, and any other information that could affect your massage.
Certain conditions and medications may require modifications, additional precautions, medical clearance, or an alternative approach. Sharing this information helps your therapist plan your session with your safety and comfort in mind.
2. Consultation With Your Massage Therapist
Once your paperwork is complete, your massage therapist will discuss your concerns, daily activities, areas of tension, and expectations for the session.
This is your opportunity to explain what you are experiencing and what you hope to achieve. Your therapist may ask questions about your symptoms, pressure preferences, and any areas that should be avoided.
Together, you can discuss an appropriate approach and determine whether massage therapy is suitable for your needs. If your symptoms suggest that further medical evaluation may be necessary, your therapist may recommend that you consult the appropriate healthcare provider.
3. Your Personalized Massage Session
Your massage therapist will use the information gathered during your consultation to guide the session.
Pressure and techniques can be adjusted to your comfort level, and you are always encouraged to speak up if anything feels uncomfortable. Your privacy, boundaries, and preferences will be respected throughout the appointment.
After your session, your therapist can discuss how you responded to the treatment and whether any adjustments may be helpful for future visits.
4. Planning Your Next Appointment
How often you should receive massage therapy depends on your goals, symptoms, health history, and response to treatment.
Some people choose occasional sessions for relaxation, while others may benefit from a more consistent schedule for managing recurring muscle tension or supporting an active lifestyle.
For some individuals, an appointment every two weeks may be a reasonable starting point. However, this is not a universal recommendation. Your therapist can help you determine an appropriate schedule and adjust it as your needs change.
Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your care—not to recommend more appointments than you need.
